What happens during Holy Communion?
Holy Communion is a Sacrament instituted by Christ Himself. We are well prepared to receive it when we repent of our sins and trust His words, ‘Given and shed for you for the remission of sins.’
In the bread and wine, repentant believers receive the true body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
St. Paul practices close communion, meaning that we commune those who share our confession of faith. Confirmed members of St. Paul or another congregation of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod are welcome to commune with us. If you are not a confirmed LCMS member, we welcome you forward for a blessing; simply cross your arms over your chest.
An usher dismisses worshipers by pew, and each group comes forward to the communion rail. Please speak with an elder before the service if you have any questions or concerns.
